The 3D Printed Record

Admittedly not a subject I know inside out, although I have following its development 'lightly' over the past 2-ish years, 3D printing is a medium that has come on leaps & bounds over that short period of time. Gone are the times of it being 'idea for the future', a field laden with very few actual 'printers' of which most were cumbersome & clunky. Now the technology is getting much more accessible and relatively easier to use, you can even pick op a low-spec one from Maplin. Its something that allows creative people to enter the '3D world' without having the necessary practical skills they one would have needed to create real, tangible objects. Below is an experimental product from , a 3D printed record. As you can see from the below video, the sound is low-quality, "11kHz (a quarter of typical mp3 audio) and 5-6 bit resolution (less than one thousandth of typical 16 bit resolution)", but the music is easily recognisable & is a great example of what can be creatively achieved with 3D printing.
